Pancreas disease

Located deep in the abdomen behind the stomach, the pancreas produces enzymes that aid in the digestion of food within the intestines. The pancreas also produces insulin, which is important in regulating the amount of glucose in the blood. Pancreatic diseases include diabetes, acute and chronic pancreatitis, pancreatic enzyme deficiency and tumors. Because of the severity of some of these conditions, proper diagnosis by a physician is critical.
